Experian
Experian is one of the three major credit reporting agencies in the United
States.
In 1996, perhaps the most well known credit report company at the time,
sold its Information Systems & Services unit to group of investors.
The Experian name and logo were introduced, and the investors sold Experian to
The Great Universal Stores, a British conglomerate.
If you have applied for, or you've been granted credit in the past, it is
likely that Experian has you in their files. Many credit grantors rely on
Experian data exclusively, or they may use Experian credit reports in
combination with reports from Equifax and Trans Union, the other two major
credit information repositories. Many companies, when deciding whether or not to
grant credit to you, use the FICO score - which is a score based on your
Experian credit report.
